اکوکاردیوگرافی (اکوی قلب)
اکوی قلب (اکوکاردیوگرافی) یک روش گسترده و غیر تهاجمی است که در آن با استفاده از امواج صوتی بی ضرر برای انسان تصویر اجزاء قلب و میزان سرعت جریان خون تعیین میشود. با استفاده از این روش می‌توان نمای دقیقی از دیواره‌های قلبی ، دریچه‌ها و ابتدای سرخرگهای بزرگ را بدست آورد. غیر تهاجمی بودن این آزمون از امتیازهای خاص آن به شمار می‌رود
اکوکاردیوگرافی بر اساس هدایت امواج صوتی با فرکانس بالا به قلب ودریافت پژواک آن توسط گیرنده خاصی می باشد. امواج صوتی ساده برای تصویر برداری مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرند و هیچگونه اشعه یا موج خطرناکی به فرد انتقال پیدا نمی‌کند.
در اکوی دو بعدی تصویر دقیقی از آناتومی قلب ایجاد میشود و در این نوع اکوکاریوگرافی بیشتر برای اندازه‌گیری اندازه قلب و اجزا و میزان کارایی آنها مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرند. از سوی دیگر قدرت عضلانی قلب و بویژه توانایی بطن چپ در بیرون راندن خون از قلب توسط اکوی قلبی قابل ارزیابی می‌باشد.
نوعی دیگر اکو به نام اکوی داپلر می‌باشد که برای تشخیص جهت و اندازه‌گیری سرعت جریان خون در داخل قلب و عروق بزرگ استفاده میشود ، در اکو داپلر رنگی ، تصاویر رنگی (قرمز و آبی) ایجاد می‌شودکه روش دقیقی در ارزیابی ناهنجاریهای مادرزادی قلبی و اختلالات دریچه‌ای( تنگی ویا گشادی) می باشد.
